FreeScript is a free, offline screenplay editor for Mac. Start a scene, write the dialogue, and keep going in a quiet paper-and-ink workspace. Enter moves to the next screenplay element; Tab changes its type. Your drafts autosave on your Mac.

Ready to share? Export a formatted PDF or Fountain file. Already have a draft? Paste your script or import a text-based PDF and continue writing.

There is also a FreeScript companion for ChatGPT and Claude to format, revise, analyze, and export screenplay text. It is separate from your Mac library; move drafts between them with import and export.

Paste and editable text-based PDF import support existing drafts. A separate MCP companion connects the workflow to ChatGPT and Claude.

The project demonstrates desktop interface design, screenplay editing, document import and export, application signing and packaging, and AI-tool integration. The brand system includes an adaptable logo family, real product captures, editorial campaign artwork, social formats, and captioned workflow videos. These are product capabilities and deliverables, not measured client outcomes.

## Press boilerplate

FreeScript is a free Mac screenplay editor designed around familiar paper-and-ink writing. The desktop application works offline and stores drafts locally. It supports common screenplay elements, text-based PDF/Fountain imports, and PDF/Fountain/JSON exports. Its optional online companion provides screenplay tools inside ChatGPT and Claude. Source and releases are available on GitHub under the MIT license.
